Reader, Nobody ever has spare cash or time lying around. But when it matters, somehow you find it. Like signing your kids up for activities they want, buying your loved ones a fancy birthday dinner, or in my case, investing in myself and my dream business. Last night, I finally dropped $3k on a program I've been thinking about doing for the past 2 years. Each time I had wanted to do it, it felt like too much money - money I didn't have. This time, it isn't that I have the money - of course there's always a bill I can pay off with that money - but I found the money. Or at least, a way to find that money for this program that I believe will be worth it. So why did I finally do it? Unlike what most people believe, we all make financial decisions from our emotions and beliefs first, then use logic to rationalize it. Instead of fighting this, I've come to accept this and learn to work with it. I decided to finally buy the program because I believe it would help me get into a better state of mind, heart, and spirit that would ultimately help me take the physical actions to get what I want in life - specifically, build my dream coaching business. I observe and study successful people as a past time. And what I've noticed is they just operate at another level - a different mentality, seemingly superhuman dedication, and they just do the (often simple) things others just aren't willing to. I want to be this kind of person. And I believe this program will help me become that person. We make our dreams come true not by the actions we take alone, but by the person we're being. It's as straightforward as that. So next time you're caught up with indecision - just take a moment - or 2 years if you're like me lol - and be honest with yourself:
These were the questions I asked myself. Then I went ahead and signed up for the program. I know however it turns out, I'll become a better version of myself - a version closer to who I have to be to make my dreams a reality. And that made it worth it to me. That's it from me this week. If you have 15 minutes, catch this week's podcast where I share some nuggets of inspiration and wisdom from people I'm following about doing work you love and building your dream. I came across their advice the morning after I bought that program. It felt like confirmation from the universe that I was doing the right thing. So I recorded my thoughts on it. Hi Reader, I ended up the breadwinner, and started a business on the side of my job out of necessity. I had a 6-figure business debt, school going kids to support, my husband wasn't able to work, and I to leave an untenable work situation meaning we had no income. Sounds dramatic, and it definitely caused a lot of stress and anxiety at the time. But that was also when I decided that I was going to get smart about money because nobody was coming to save me I also realized that being in a...
Reader, Work expands to fill the time you give it. That's Parkinson's Law. This past week, I tried giving myself 10 minutes to write my daily LinkedIn post in the mornings. It worked. It might be stressful to some, but it energized me, as I watched the timer counting down while I typed away. 10 minutes isn't a magic number - there's no research behind it. It's just what I could fit into an already early start at 4.30am after my morning routine. So now, my morning routine looks like this...
Reader, It's 9.17pm on Sunday as I'm writing this newsletter that I should have sent by 9am today. And I really didn't feel like doing this when it's almost my bedtime for an early morning start tomorrow at 4.45am. Then I remind myself - this effort is the work that's building my dream. One brick at a time. One email at a time. So here we are! Today's topic is about owning your story. Because your story has value. All the decisions you made, the actions you took, the ups and downs - they all...
