Never ever be a victim of layoffs again

Reader,

The company where I work my day job is in the midst of an acquisition.

This means many employees feel insecure about their jobs.

When I recently conducted training, several colleagues were commenting about how people were feeling fearful.

They asked me for advice (translation: reassurance they would be ok).

I understand these are uncertain times that can be frightening.

As the primary provider, I know this worry firsthand - of not having an income while having a family to support.

Here's what I told them.

Layoffs is just part of corporate life.

When you sign up for a job, you signed up for this 'risk' too. Nothing in life is guaranteed.

You can't predict, stop or control when layoffs happen.

Instead, you can:

  • Keep your skills sharp
  • Nurture your networks
  • Master your self-talk and emotions

While I know it can be uncomfortable, I also know if I'm faced with job or income loss, I can handle it.

Not because I have a secret stash fund (although that would be nice), but because I won't let it to mess with my head and heart.

When you free yourself from worrying about things you can't control, you

  • Get clear about your direction and what to focus your attention on
  • Remain calm and take the best course of action in your situation
  • Move forward with confidence and conviction, and trust your decisions

As someone who used to lose sleep worrying about money and job insecurity, I've invested time and effort to master my habitual thoughts and emotions.

From negativity, fear and complaining, to focusing on the good feelings I want to experience in life and working towards those.

It's changed my life.

That's why it's now my mission to share my exact step-by-step method that's helped me become this empowered woman.

If this is something that resonates with you, join my live cohort program, Momentum Mastery for Women and I'll show you how.

Registration closes for the year on 23 October 2024.

We'll start the 6-week program weekly on 23 October 2024 at 8.30PM Singapore time.

See you then.

Reader, Time - a loaded word for ambitious working moms. There never seems to be enough of it. It goes so fast you can't believe your kids are all grown. Or it goes too slowly. Always when you're trying to put your baby to sleep for the 4th time in the last hour so you can get a few minutes to yourself. Ultimately, it comes down to how you're relating to time. We all have the same 24 hours. Yet, some people seem to accomplish so much - and some, so little. I share more about this topic on...

Reader, Today is the last Sunday in 2024. So tempting to do it like everyone else - Review your 2024 List improvements you'll make Define where you're going in 2025 Let's do it differently, shall we? It's great to reflect and set direction for career and lives, of course. But I've found things like 'goal setting' just let me down - I often don't hit my goals. Then I just end up feeling disillusioned, disappointed, and no good. So instead of doing the conventional year-in-review and goal...

Reader, You know how they say if you want success, you have to show up like a pro. They say the difference between pros and amateurs is that pros show up no matter what. Amateurs show up only when they feel like it or when they can. I'm a pro mom and wife then. Because I show up for my family no matter what. Sick or well Rain or shine Feel like it or not Exhausted or energized I was supposed to show up like a pro in my business today by publishing a podcast at 9am. It's what I committed to...
