Are you heading into the trees?

Hello Reader,

When I first learned to snowboard, I kept heading into the trees, no matter how much I tried to avoid them.

After several attempts on different slopes, one snowboarding instructor I decided to hire made a comment,

'Stop looking at the trees. Look at the open slope.'

And it worked.

I learned 3 lessons from this experience.

(4 if you include staying upright and successfully snowboarding down the slope!)

1. Energy goes where attention goes.

My looking-at-the-trees experience is proof that energy goes, where attention goes!

It doesn't matter whether your attention is on the thing you want, or the thing you don't want.

You are where your attention is, regardless of whether it's what you want or don't.

2. The devil is in the details.

It took this one small tweak to change everything.

This one-second observation from an experienced eye was all that was needed to help me achieve the result I'd been practicing all morning to get.

Big transformation happens in small actions.

Break your big goals down into small, daily steps you can take every day.

And do it.

3. Don't underestimate the value of an experienced, outside perspective.

The other day, my mom complained about how all it took was for the guy who fixed our stove to change the battery for our gas stove to finally work again.

And how she should have done it herself for a fraction of the price she paid the stove guy.

I asked, 'Would you have known it was the battery that was causing the problem?'

Sure, you can YouTube these things, but that would have cost you the time, trial and error, and probably money wasted trying stuff out that didn't work.

People complain all the time about how expensive a service is, especially when on the surface it looks easy to solve.

The expert makes it look easy because they invested decades getting really good at what they do.

If you're stuck and struggling with something, it might be time to invest in working with someone who's done the thing you want.

I shared these 3 points in my workshop yesterday,

12 Weeks to Financial Confidence

This is a quarterly workshop that helps you

  1. Direct your attention so you place your energy on actions that count
  2. Get down with the details to explore what might be holding you back from achieving your financial goals
  3. Be guided by a certified practitioner (me, in case you're wondering lol) to help you shine a light on where to place your attention (point 1)

Watch the replay HERE.

It'll be up for a week until 25 January 2024.

What would your life look like if you could release the stress, anxiety, and insecurity you feel around money?

What would a little more financial peace in your life mean to you?

Yeah, I thought so.

Happy Friday!

Reader, Nobody ever has spare cash or time lying around. But when it matters, somehow you find it. Like signing your kids up for activities they want, buying your loved ones a fancy birthday dinner, or in my case, investing in myself and my dream business. Last night, I finally dropped $3k on a program I've been thinking about doing for the past 2 years. Each time I had wanted to do it, it felt like too much money - money I didn't have. This time, it isn't that I have the money - of course...
