I didn't hit my 2025 goals. Here's what I learned.

Reader,

It's December 31st, and I just reviewed my 2025.

Honestly? I didn't hit most of my goals:

  • Revenue target? Nope.
  • Client goals? Fell short.
  • Growth I wanted? Not there yet.

And for a moment, I felt disappointed. Like I'd failed somehow.

But then, while facilitating my Create 2026 workshop this week, I had a realization:

If I were already the sort of person who gets those results, I'd already have them.

So the question isn't 'Why did I fail?'

The question is: "Who do I need to become?"

This is what nobody tells you about building a business - it's really, really hard!

Not in the 'work harder, hustle more' way everyone preaches.

But in the 'you need to become a completely different person' way.

You need to learn skills you were never taught:

  • Marketing and sales (when you've been an employee your whole life)
  • Psychology and persuasion
  • Tech and systems
  • Relationship building in a completely different context

You need to handle emotional drama:

  • Rejection that feels personal
  • Self-doubt and imposter syndrome
  • Fear of being visible (what if my boss or colleagues see?)
  • Uncertainty about what to do next

You need to develop resilience:

  • Pick yourself up when things don't work
  • Try again after failures
  • Keep going when results take way longer than expected

Most of all, you need to learn how to care deeply AND stay detached at the same time.

To want it badly AND not need it at all.

To be patient AND take action.

These are skills employees aren't taught. Because in a 9-5, you don't need them.

But in your own business, they're essential.

What I realized about 2025:

Every challenge I faced was teaching me who I need to become.

My café failure that led to 6-figure debt taught me financial literacy and resilience.

The rejections and slow growth taught me detachment and persistence.

The fear of posting on LinkedIn taught me courage and authenticity.

The process IS the goal. The journey IS the destination.

Who I'm becoming matters more than the milestones I hit.

So here's how I'm approaching 2026 differently:

Not with frustration and impatience.

But with joy and gratitude.

Gratitude for the problems because they're showing me what I still need to learn.

Joy in the process because this journey is making me into someone I actually like.

Certainty that everything is happening FOR me, not TO me.

I recorded a whole podcast episode about this.

In it, I share:

  • Why building a business takes longer than you expect (and that's normal)
  • The skills you need that nobody teaches
  • How to handle the emotional rollercoaster
  • Why your 'failures' are actually stepping stones
  • How to approach 2026 with a completely different mindset

And I want to give you the Create 2026 workshop for free.

This is the workshop I just held where I take you through:

Part 1: Review Your 2025
Look at what worked, what didn't, and WHO you became along the way

Part 2: Your 2026 Vision
Not just WHAT you want, but WHO you need to become to get it

Part 3: Your Action Plan + Problem-Solving Framework
Daily actions that transform your identity + what to do when you're stuck

Plus you get:

  • Annual Planning Guide (workbook)
  • 5-Step Problem Solving Framework (for when things get hard)
  • Guided meditation to visualize your 2026

If you're ending 2025 feeling like you didn't accomplish what you wanted, remember:

  • You're not alone. I'm right there with you.
  • You haven't failed. You just haven't become that person yet.
  • 2026 is your year to become that person.

The process is the goal. The journey is the destination.

Everything you're going through is happening FOR you.

Let's make 2026 the year we become the sort of people who figure it out, even when it's hard, unclear, and taking way longer than we expected.

Wishing you and your loved ones a great start to the new year!

Here's to becoming,

Sharon

P.S. Seriously, go get the workshop. It's free, and I take you through the exact process I use to review my year and set goals based on who I'm becoming, not just what I want. You'll also get two bonuses that will help you actually achieve your 2026 goals.

Hello Reader, After taking a break from recording to review where I want to take this podcast, I’m back with a new episode focused on a topic I keep coming back to that's close to my heart - financial resilience. Reader, 2025 is over. Revenue targets. Client milestones. Growth numbers. Missed them all. Yes, that's me. For a while, I avoided looking at the data because I didn't want to face the disappointment. In my latest podcast episode, I'm pulling back the curtain on what 2025 actually looked like: 5 Unglamorous Lessons from Building a Business While Working Full-Time: 1. It takes WAY longer...
