The key to financial success

Published about 1 month ago • 1 min read

Hello Reader,

Here's what helped me become financially confident:

Working on my self-belief and self-trust.

Before I did that, I used to:

  • Worry about job insecurity
  • Leave money to the men to manage
  • Panic when my bank balance dipped
  • Stress when paying bills each month
  • Get confused about investing or money

As I began doing the work to build self-belief and self-trust, I noticed that I:

  • Didn't bat an eyelid when I was told my pay would be cut
  • Took charge and got my finances organized
  • Learned how to make the money I want
  • Stood up for what I'm worth
  • Invested in my skills

I was able to do all this because I had a newfound confidence in my ability to thrive no matter what happened.

I knew I could make a bad situation work.

These were hard-won experiences because of the challenges I worked through, like:

  • Getting into, and crawling out of a 6-figure business debt
  • Setting aside ego and pride to feed the family
  • Being let go from my job as the sole provider
  • Learning to live with $3 in the bank
  • Having no one to turn to for advice

It isn't how many finance talks you attend.

Or whether you understand how crypto works.

It's not about fancy spreadsheets or understanding the difference between fundamental and technical analysis.

Ultimately, that's the easy stuff - anyone can Google or YouTube to learn those.

The tougher thing is overcoming:

  • Self-doubt and uncertainty about whether you have what it takes to make it
  • Staying in your comfort zone even though it hurts you in the long run
  • Feelings of disappointment and disillusionment for failing again
  • Fear of rejection and ridicule by people you know and trust
  • The temptation to give up because it's so hard

Pursuing your financial goals and dreams takes stamina and courage.

All those success stories you hear about took years to achieve.

How you keep yourself motivated to play the long game is the key to financial success.

But it's not enough to 'just do it' or 'just keep going'.

The question is HOW to do that.

I'll answer this question at my upcoming live workshop, Financial Confidence for Women, on 4 April 2024.
